About Me!
Howdy! My name is Alex Mitchell (he/they), I am a Minneapolis (and soon-to-be NYC!)-based performer originally from Denver, Colorado.
As a senior BFA Actor at the University of Minnesota / Guthrie Theater, I have developed a deep love for making classical texts accessible and enriching. I am also passionate about contemporary works, directing, Theatre for Young Audiences, and telling Queer Jewish stories.
For me, acting is all about sharing anecdotes of the human heart, cultivating compassion and care. I pride myself on working diligently to tell the honest, unabashed, and often messy breadth of the human experience.
Updates!
Summer 2025: I spent my summer in Thousand Oaks, California, as an Acting Apprentice for the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company, playing Sebastian in Twelfth Night and Cloten (u/s Iachimo) in Cymbeline.
October 2025: I will be acting as Sir Robert Chiltern in An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde, adapted and directed by Craig Johnson, through the UMN Guthrie BFA. Let’s get Wild(e)!
February 2026: I will be making my UMN Guthrie BFA directorial debut with The Grown-Ups by Skylar Fox and Simon Henriques. This political satire about five camp counselors is going to be a blast!
Likes: Playing guitar and piano, Diet Coke, long walks and hikes, the Cincinnati Bengals
Dislikes: The sound of chalk, living far away from my dog, tomato on its own (but not in things)
Dream Roles: Sidney Brustein in The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window, Ophelia in Hamlet, any role in a Wes Anderson movie
There’s more!
